Is this the original Altec A7 plan ?

Is this the 1st Altec A7 plan ?
I found it in my old files, infact from a very old British cabinet diyer's book.

Here it seems the LF driver seats on a 2 board sandwitch. One is the usual A7 baffle, and the other is a spacer-board kind of a thing, and it has the usual circular cutaway like for normal installations. The ports are also twin vertical types.

Will anybody shed some light on this ?

That looks like the original 825 cabinet plans with 5/8 plywood. I think they called that the A5.

I agree with Cal above except for the A5 part.

The early A5 as i understand was a freakishly large monstrosity compared to the 825/828. The modern A5 as i understand is a 515 equipped 828 with the prerequisite large format HF.

This is just my understanding, i'm not trying to preach to the choir or anything.

By gosh after a little searching, they indeed built the A5-X system in the 825 cabinet per the 1966 VOTT catalog. After some thought, it only makes sense that the early ginormous cabinet used for the early A5 system was replaced by the 825. My initial thought was that the 825 box is of inadequate strength to exploit the full potential of the 515 woofer.

Freakishly? Maybe, Although, It's smaller than a 210....... yet won't fit through my front door, unfortunately :-(

My uncle refers to it, as something along the lines of....... that stupid box you have in my garage. :-)

Plans have been discussed here before, and no one has ever located them. If you do a search for the 110 horn you should find basic measurements, Though.

You're connecting dots that shouldn't be connected. The difference between the A7 and A5 doesn't have anything to do with the cabinet....... it's in the drivers, and HF horn. Unless you're talking about an early A5 (or A6), and then the cabinet is totally different.
